Aurelia Yeomans Design

Drawing inspiration from the exquisite micro-geometries of nature’s crystal structures, the rocky geological treasures of the earth and the mythology of ancient civilisations, – Aurelia Yeomans’ signature designs are both raw and refined; imbued with a sparkling luminosity and textural detail which echo the elemental forms and frequencies of nature.

Aurelia personally handcrafts each piece with the utmost care in her Melbourne atelier, made with a reverence for the individual characteristics of natural gemstones and the beauty of the precious materials which carry the legacy and history of the earth within them. She creates unique and contemporary one-of-a-kind artworks, ceremonial and bespoke fine jewellery as well as limited series collections; handcrafted with recycled precious metals, ethically sourced diamonds, steel, enamel, and natural precious gems.

Her pieces are designed to spark joy, memory, and imagination – merging ancient knowledge and alchemical goldsmithing practices and with contemporary art and design. Aurelia believes jewellery is a powerful, symbolic storyteller and crafts each piece with story at its heart - celebrating our relationships and life experiences in a personalised and meaningful way. Designed to be collected, worn, treasured, and passed on to the future custodians of the earth.

Ethos

Materials

Aurelia’s jewellery is created from the finest quality precious metals - working predominantly with recycled 14 and 18 karat gold, as well as other alloys including 9kt gold, sterling silver and unorthodox materials such as mild steel and kiln fired enamel. Her use and extensive exploration of steel and enamel have become a unique signature of her work and can be seen in her artwork and fine jewellery collections alike. She celebrates nature’s exquisite creations in all of its colours and forms, finding beauty in the unconventional heavily flecked black and salt and pepper diamonds, all the way through to the cognacs, yellows, pinks and pure whites. She also works with an array of beautiful precious and semi-precious gems including pearls, opals, tourmalines, aquamarine, ruby, sapphire emerald and spinel.

Sustainability

Aurelia is committed to working with integrity and transparency - adopting sustainable practices in both the sourcing and supply of materials, as well as manufacture within her atelier. She works closely with a select handful of local tradespeople and reputable suppliers to create her signature jewels, designing and creating every piece in her Melbourne Atelier. Her energy footprint is 100% carbon offset, she uses environmentally friendly products wherever possible, and green banking that does not invest in arms, fossil fuels or other dirty industries. Her metal is sourced from local Melbourne companies that use 100% recycled and refined precious metals which are not freshly mined from the earth.

Gemstones

Aurelia deals with a select few reputable and trusted gemstone and diamond merchants in Australia, Canada and the UK who comply with governmental regulations and the UN Kimberly Process to ensure stones sourced through these channels are conflict free. Traceability is still difficult with many smaller gemstones as there is not one overarching body that regulates supply from mine to market. Aurelia is looking to develop further relationships with local suppliers that have a short and transparent supply chain. Aurelia also works directly with Australian gem cutters, sourcing and cutting unusual one-of-a-kind pieces from more traceable or locally mined rough with a low carbon footprint, as well as adapting clients heirloom gems into new designs.
